Meeting with Pastor Greg

Pastor Greg wants to meet with every family who counts WCC as their home. During these days of Covid-19, Pastor Greg would like to meet with each of you sometime in October or November. You can meet at church or at home, inside or outside, in person or online. Please contact the church office or Pastor Greg directly to set up a meeting. Thanks!

New JOB opportunity at WCC
Our custodian of 5 years, Barb, has taken another job and will be leaving us at the end of October. So, starting with those who call WCC their church home, we are looking for a new custodian, beginning November 1, to clean our facilities each week. Through the end of 2020, the pay will be $15 an hour for up to 5 hours. After the new 2021 budget is approved, we will talk about any adjustments to pay and/or hours. There is flexibility as to when you would come in to clean. We are looking for someone with a servant’s heart, a great attitude, and a desire to clean for the glory of God. Could that be you? If you are interested in more information or an interview, please contact the church office (office@weymouthchurch.com; 330.723.1750). You can also ask Russ Kinnebrew or Pastor Greg for more info.

Thank You Barb!

Thank you to Barb for her five years serving  of our church with a great attitude!  Please help us thank her by signing the card at the Welcome Center table. We have sanitized pens for you to use!  Please take a pen from the “clean pens” mug and return it to the “used pens” mug.

Communion This Week!

We look forward to celebrating Communion together this Sunday, October 25th.  If you are planning to join us from home, you can prepare some food and drink so your family can celebrate right along with us!

Thank you from the Nix family:

Thank you so much to Weymouth Community Church, Emily Varner, and everyone else who helped put together our baby shower. We are so grateful for all the prayers, cards, and gifts. We feel so blessed to be a part of a church full of kind and generous people! We can’t wait to bring Hailee to her first service!

Weymouth Community Church

At our annual member meeting near the beginning of 2021, you will be asked to vote on anyone presented by the Elders, for the role of Elder in 2021, 2022. Our Elders serve a two-year term, with the option of being nominated, voted on, and then serving a second, consecutive, two-year term. They are then required to sit off the Elder Team, according to our Constitution, for one year before being re-nominated.

Before we get to that vote, however, we are asking that all members of Weymouth Community Church assist our present Elders in identifying who God has prepared to serve as an Elder this next year. As lead pastor, Greg will continue to serve as a non-voting member of the Elder Team. The current Elder Team also consists of:

Pete Golas

Russell Kinnebrew (Team Leader)

Kerry Pixton

Matt Stein

Jason Zabka

Pete is completing his first year of his first 2-year term. Russell is completing the final year of his second, 2-year term; and therefore, is not eligible to be nominated until a year off the Elder team. Kerry Pixton is completing his first year of his first 2-year term. Matt Stein is completing his first year of his first 2-year term. Jason Zabka is completing his second year of his first 2-year term; and has chosen not to be nominated for a second term.

You are welcome, as a member of WCC to nominate any other male member of WCC for this role. Please pray, ask the person if he is willing to be nominated, and then give his name to Russell Kinnebrew or the church office. Please have all names in to us by Sunday, November 8th.

As you pray about who God is selecting, please consider the biblical qualifications for an Elder, as described in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Keep in mind that these are general character qualities the Elder is pursuing, but that he will not perfectly display these at all times. Can these qualities be seen in his overall character?

Above reproach

Faithful to his wife

Able to communicate God’s truth clearly

Not given to drunkenness

Not violent

Not quarrelsome

Not a lover of money

He must manage his own family well

Not a new believer

Good reputation with non-believers

Not arrogant

Not quick-tempered

Lover of good

Holding firm to the Word of God
